Why you are here

Nobody wants to explain braces in a meeting

Most adults who call here have been thinking about it for years and stop at the same place: how it looks at work, on a video call, across a table at lunch. Some were told as teenagers that they had missed their window and took it as final. The teeth kept moving in the meantime, and so did the options.

What is different here

Five things worth checking before you pick an office

  • 01One board-certified orthodontist plans the treatment and finishes it. No rotating providers, no handing you to whoever is in that day.
  • 02Ceramic brackets are on the table from the first conversation, not sold to you as an upgrade at the end of it.
  • 03Complex adult cases are sequenced with your periodontist and general dentist by this office, so you are not the one relaying messages.
  • 04Digital scans instead of impression material, and the full plan is worked out before anything is bonded.
  • 05Major PPO plans are checked while you sit there. FSA and HSA funds apply, and any balance is financed in house.

What to expect

Adult appointments, planned around a working week

Adjustments are short and booked ahead, so you can hold a standing slot instead of rebuilding your calendar every month. The suite is at street level on W. Anthem Way with reserved parking outside, which means a visit costs you the appointment and not the hour around it. Dr. Romans is the one in the room each time.

  • DMD, MSD
  • More than 7 years dedicated to orthodontics, including advanced specialty training

Dr. Romans owns this practice and treats every patient in it himself. An adult case is often the one with the history attached: old dental work, a tooth that never came down, gums that need attention first. That is the case he wants to see, and he will tell you plainly what is worth doing and what is not.

Come in, ask what you actually want to ask, and leave with a clear picture of what treatment would involve. The consultation is free, at any age.

Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 8am to 5pm. Some Thursdays as well, so it is worth calling to check.

Very excited to get started with my treatment! I have a difficult case with a missing tooth and canine stuck high up, but Dr Romans coordinated everything with the periodontist and general dentist. Gorgeous office and well run.

Questions

What adults ask before they start.

How much do braces for adults cost in Anthem?
It depends on how far your teeth have to move and how long that takes, so we do not print a single figure. The consultation is free, and you leave it with an exact number for your case, your insurance checked, and the monthly options written down. Nothing is estimated later by mail.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth move at any age because the bone around them keeps remodeling through adult life. What changes with age is planning, not possibility: gum health, old dental work and missing teeth all shape the approach. Adults who were told as teenagers that their window had closed are a routine case here, not an exception.
Will braces be obvious at work?
Clear ceramic brackets sit against the tooth and read as much quieter than metal from across a table. Metal brackets are smaller than they used to be as well. If visibility is the deciding factor, ask about clear aligners at the consultation and compare the two plans side by side before you commit.
How long does adult treatment take?
That depends on the case. Simple crowding is a short course; a bite that needs correcting or a tooth that has to be brought down takes longer. You get an expected length at the consultation, after the scan, rather than a figure guessed before anyone has looked at your teeth. It is reviewed as treatment goes on.
Do you work with my dentist?
Yes. Adult cases often need more than one set of hands: a periodontist for gum work, a general dentist for a crown or an implant site. Dr. Romans coordinates the sequence with them so the appointments happen in the right order and you are not left carrying messages between offices.
Does my insurance cover adult orthodontics?
Some plans include adult orthodontic benefits and some cover dependents only, so it has to be checked rather than assumed. Major PPO plans are verified during your visit, not mailed as an estimate afterward. FSA and HSA funds apply, and any remaining balance is financed in house.
